Spring Semester Starts

guan-ai-gate-smallThe students returned to school today, running around in their colorful new clothes from Spring Festival. The textbooks, however, were tardy. Every semester, the textbooks don’t arrive on time and the teachers have to fill up the days. In the past, this usually meant a lot of babysitting, videos, and recess. But this semester, Principal Sun and Sara made a plan. The next two days will be filled with activities meant to foster TEAM SPIRIT among students.

RCEF and the Guan Ai principals decided that the big goal this semester is to let students learn and work in small groups as much as possible. When done well, this can cultivate abilities like independent learning and thinking, cooperation with others, and improved communication skills. However, most students aren’t used to working in groups so this week is a chance to practice. Tomorrow morning, the teachers are going to introduce a new culture of small groups into their classrooms. They’ve picked group leaders who are more outgoing and willing to help and communicate with others. The planned activities include competitions, games, speeches, and performances…all designed for students to get used to working in groups. Stay tuned for updates!
