Today was the first day of a two day SVP evaluation meeting. In the morning, each team gave a report of their experience and the main lessons learned. They also prepared a Powerpoint meant to share the experience and raise awareness about rural China amongst friends and family back home. In the afternoon, we split into groups by overseas volunteers, mainland volunteers, rural teachers who actively taught as main teachers in the SVP, and rural teachers who were teaching assistants. Each group discussed the goals of SVP, ranked them from their personal preference, and scored them accordingly to how well they felt they reached the goals this year. The goals were different for students, volunteers, and rural teachers. The groups then discussed reasons that helped and hindered achieving the goals. Finally, each group brainstormed what other possible ways to structure a summer program that might better help reach the goals. This was not limited to the “summer camp teaching” model. Below is a copy of the guidelines we gave to all the participants。

跟有强烈意愿进行教育改革但是又缺乏能力或资源的农村学校合作，支持教师探索、实践和分享满足农村学生和农村社区的需要的教育方法。This program partners with progressively-minded schools who have the will but need assistance with methods and resources to reform their schools in order to develop and share educational approaches that are responsive to the needs of rural students and their communities.
