（中文翻译在英文后面）Guan Ai received a steady stream of RCEF volunteers and friends as visitors in June. Since the RCEF community is wide spread around the world, this was the first time many of the visitors had been to a RCEF program site in rural China.

Translation Committee Director Hua Zhenyu arrived with an armful of science books for the library and spent time chatting with the teachers. Materials Design Director Marco Flagg took beautiful pictures of school life and facilitated an informal photographic workshop so teachers could learn how to use the school’s new digital camera. Research and Evaluation Director Yishin Khoo listened in on classes, talked with teachers, and assessed professional development needs at Guan Ai.

Tony Gooch, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the International Institute for Rural Reconstruction, and Florence Davis, president of the Starr Foundation, toured the school and nearby women artisans cooperative.

Over twenty Harvard undergraduates led by John Chen, the director of the Harvard China Fund, spent a day at Guan Ai to learn about RCEF’s approach to rural education. In preparation, Guan Ai students researched the history of an old tomb in the village by interviewing a villager and investigating the site of the tomb.

They brought the Harvard visitors on a village tour which included observing local artists at work in their homes. The visitors also chatted and played games with the students, and had a discussion with Co-Executive Director Sara Lam. Their main interest was in how Harvard alumni can make a difference by supporting grassroots efforts in China.访问关爱小学
