Help RCEF win the GES-Global Giving Contest!
It’s the “超级女声” or “American Idol” of non-profits…or, at least it feels that way given how many times I check RCEF’s progress in the GES-Global Giving Competition. In just two weeks, RCEF has raised $6400 from 96 donors! We’re almost to our goal of at least 100 total donors, for which we win a permanent spot on the Global Giving website. (Global Giving connects donors to social projects all over the world.) However, we still need help towards the bigger goal–being among the top 2 projects by May 13! If we are, we’ll get a prize of $3,500. Please support us and donate today or tell your friends. Thanks!
Last week, we were the #1 project out of all 450+ projects on Global Giving. This was featured on Social Edge, which is a website about social entrepreneurism.

| The GlobalGiving Index (GGI) shot up to 213 this week and the number of donations also increased to 406. The number one project was the Quality education for rural China project, with $3,460 in donations. Economic Development came in as the most popular theme again this week. The Quality education for rural China project supports rural teachers to develop new curriculum and teaching approaches that foster students’ well-rounded development and ability to contribute to their rural communities. This project has received over $5,000 to date. |

Added on May 18th, 2008 at %I:%M %pGood news! RCEF came in second! We raised $8275 from 116 donors to win an extra $3,500 from the competition! We greatly appreciate everyone’s help spreading the word and contributing to this amazing feat. If you didn’t get a chance to donate during the competition, you can still support RCEF by sending a check or donating online. Visit http://www.ruralchina.org for details.
