The RCEF “Office”
People often ask, “Where is RCEF located?” and we always have to answer, “Nowhere and everywhere.” RCEF is run “virtually” by a small staff in China with almost 90 volunteers spread between several Chinese provinces and 8 countries. Email, MSN, Skype, Wiki, and now, blogs, are our usual way of communicating. That’s why I’ve often wondered what RCEF people actually look like when they do their work.
These past two weeks were kind of novel because several of the China team got to spend a few days together. In Shanghai, the staff plus Wang Dan and Jikky presented at a conference. Those of us working in villages went from no indoor heating to way too much, as the hotel we stayed at was battling some ki
nd of internal heatwave. There, we spent hours of quality time hanging out on hotel beds debating RCEF issues. Then Jikky, JP, and I were all in Xi’an last week and formed an impromptu “office” at JP’s apartment. In between bowls of 泡莫 and 烤串, Jikky reviewed Innovation Grant applications at the dining room table, Diane cleaned out a cluttered inbox on the couch, and JP worked on projects at his desk.
Send us your pictures of RCEF “at work” and let’s see how big the RCEF “office” really is!
